Filter Card

Eight tests every motion passes before it ships · the one-page operating reference
DT-28 · Webgold Designs Ltd marketing only

Every motion that ships through the Reef passes the Filter. Eight tests, in any order. If a motion fails any test, it does not ship — it goes back to the author for revision, or it gets killed.

The Filter is operationalised in two places: as a quick weekly pass on every motion in the current 3-week window (run Friday 16:00 by Marketing Lead), and as a gate criterion within the Tempo Gate on Monday morning. Each pass produces a row in the FILTER_PASSES Airtable table (tblAVYm6XVJbfZuBZ).

This card is the working reference. Print it, post it, screenshot it. Every author keeps it open while drafting.

§1The Eight Tests

Each test names a specific question. Yes / No. No partial credit.
1 Translation Tax Addressed
The motion makes Caribbean context legible without requiring the audience to teach. The translation tax is named (or its absence is implied through Caribbean fluency).
Test: Could a non-Caribbean firm produce this motion? If yes — fail.
2 Caribbean-Context Anchored
The motion references at least one Caribbean-specific signal — a regulation, a market behaviour, a named place, a cultural rhythm, a regional persona. Generic global content fails this test.
Test: Name the Caribbean-specific anchor in one sentence. If you can't, fail.
3 Named Author Present
A credentialed human is attributed. No anonymous corporate voice. No "the team." Stephan, Gem, Yohance, Anyah, a named service-line lead, or a named guest.
Test: Whose photograph and credential appear with this motion? Name them.
4 Outcomes Lead
The motion leads with what changes for the reader / prospect / market — not with what Webgold built or shipped. Features support outcomes; outcomes lead.
Test: Does the first sentence describe a Webgold thing or an audience thing? Audience = pass.
5 Filter Vocabulary Clean
No banned terms (per Spine §10 Kill List + DEC-MGTM-001). The Filter overrides the standalone Brand Voice document where they conflict (per DT-4).
Test: Run the banned-vocabulary check (next section). Zero hits = pass.
6 Proof Referenced
The motion either references existing proof (named client, quantified outcome, named conference panel, Caribbean Digital Awards win) or generates new proof (publishes a position that becomes citable).
Test: Point to the proof asset (link, named client, quantified result). Generic claims = fail.
7 Channel Fit Confirmed
The motion runs on a channel where its position activates (per Phase 3 Channel Matrix activation table). LinkedIn for authority + opinion; Newsletter for owned audience; Events for activation; etc.
Test: Open the Channel Matrix → Position × Channel sheet. Find your position. Find your channel. Does the cell name an activation? If N/A, fail.
8 Cadence Respects Tempo
The motion ships at a pace consistent with the current Tempo state for its motion class. Lean-in week takes more frequency; Hold week takes published-as-scheduled; Pull-back week takes reduction or pause.
Test: Check the motion's tempo_state in HARMONY_CALENDAR. Does this week's cadence match? If misaligned, fail.

§2The Banned Vocabulary List

From Spine §10 Kill List. Updated Q-by-Q via Posture Gate. The Filter overrides Brand Voice doc on conflicts (DT-4).
⚠ These terms fail Test 5 automatically. No exceptions.

Words and phrases that are corporate-marketing residue, not Caribbean-specific, or that conceal vagueness. They appear because they're easy — they fail because easy is wrong here.

solutions (as standalone noun) world-class transform (as throwaway) innovative passionate leverage (as verb) synergy best-in-class cutting-edge next-generation robust seamless revolutionary state-of-the-art game-changer thought leader (as self-claim) holistic unlock value deliver value

The list grows. New banned terms get added through Posture Gate rulings. If a word lands as filler in three or more motions, it goes here.

§3Outcomes Lead — the principle behind Test 4

Half of motion failure traces back to feature-led writing. This is what to fix.
The principle

Webgold authors what changes for the audience. Webgold features describe the audience after the engagement, not the engagement itself. The lead is what the prospect's business looks like once the work has happened — not what Webgold did to make it happen.

Feature-led — fails Test 4 "Webgold delivers world-class digital solutions that transform Caribbean businesses through innovative web design and seamless integration."
Outcome-led — passes Test 4 "Three Republic Bank product launches reached campaign-target in seven weeks, not the projected fourteen, after the digital architecture was rebuilt around the actual decision-points T&T retail customers use."

§4How to run a Filter pass

Operational procedure. ~5 minutes per motion once practised.
Procedure
  1. Open the motion (draft, scheduled post, event copy, gated asset, etc.) alongside this Filter Card.
  2. Run Tests 1 → 8 in order. Each test gets a Yes / No decision. No partial credit.
  3. Log the pass in Airtable FILTER_PASSES table (tblAVYm6XVJbfZuBZ) with: pass_id, motion_link (FK to HARMONY_CALENDAR), copy_excerpt, filter_outcome (pass / fail / revise), banned_terms_found (multi-select), missing_elements (multi-select), pass_date, audit_owner, source_artefact.
  4. If pass: motion's filter_status in HARMONY_CALENDAR moves to Pass. Motion can ship.
  5. If fail: motion goes back to author with the failed test numbers + banned terms + missing elements. Author revises. Re-runs Filter.
  6. If revise: motion is mostly clean but has minor issues (1-2 banned terms, missing one outcome anchor). Marketing Lead can edit-and-ship at their discretion. Log revision notes.

§5The two first applications

Phase 6 ships with two immediate applications scheduled.
T-MGTM-062 — WG-25 Staging Copy Filter Audit
  1. Status: OVERDUE (was due before April 30 go-live; April 30 has passed).
  2. Scope: Every page of staging copy at staging.webgold.co — all 9 service pages + homepage + about + case studies + contact.
  3. Filter pass: One per page. ~30 minutes per page. Document banned terms, missing elements, channel-fit check.
  4. Outcome: Revision list back to WG-25 sprint team. Pages that fail get re-written before next deploy of staging.
T-MGTM-063 — WG-21 Content Pipeline Filter Audit
  1. Status: Not Started.
  2. Scope: Every active motion in WG-21.1 through WG-21.6 (DX Authority, Channel Architecture, Content Engine, Strategic Partnerships paused, Events Programme, Social Presence Activation).
  3. Filter pass: One per active motion. Use the existing motion list in HARMONY_CALENDAR filtered to WG-21 service-line tags.
  4. Outcome: Per-sub-project revision list. Where the Filter blocks shipping, motion gets reworked before next sprint window.
